With a voiceover provided by Triller co-owner Snoop Dogg, the new video teases the main event clash that will pit Paul against Askren in a boxing match between the YouTube celebrity and the former UFC contender.
“Ben’s gonna have to kill me to win the Jake Paul vs Ben Askren fight,” Paul promises during the new commercial.
While he only has two professional bouts on his resume against opponents without any previous boxing experience, Paul is currently a slight favorite to win the fight that headlines Tiller’s latest pay-per-view offering.
Jake Paul vs Ben Askren: Undercard
The undercard will feature Jake Paul vs Ben Askren a unique mix of fights including British millionaire nightclub owner Joe Fournier facing Colombian reggaeton musician Reykon.
Meanwhile, former WBA super-lightweight champion Regis Prograis and ex-UFC heavyweight star Frank Mir will also be in action.
Subject to change, order to be confirmed
Askren will be coming out of retirement to face Paul after they got into a heated war of words over Twitter. The former Olympic wrestler will be boxing professionally for the first time in his career, although his combat sports history includes title reigns in both Bellator and ONE Championship.
The upcoming Thriller Fight Club card will also feature a number of musical performances including Justin Bieber and The Black Keys during the four-hour card that will air live on traditional pay-per-view outlets on cable and satellite as well as FITE TV online.
In the aftermath of that win, Paul and Askren began their war of words and that evolved into a confirmed fight.
The bout — and the bizarre undercard before it — will take place at the incredible 79,000-seater Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Justin Bieber and Snoop Dogg will perform as part of a star-studded line-up on the night.
Jake Paul vs Ben Askren: Date and how to watch
The exhibition event will take place on Saturday, April 17, and is being held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jake Paul vs Ben Askren: What’s been said?
Jake Paul: I started boxing two years ago and I’m still going to knock his ass out faster than Masvidal.
These MMA guys think because they throw punches they know how to box.
The world complained because I knocked out a basketball player and not a real fighter. So now I’m giving the people what they want by taking on a ‘real fighter.’
After Ben Askren is added to my knockout meme collection, what can anybody say?
Triller made the announcements on Thursday with all three new fights being shown on the pay-per-view portion of the card.
The most notable fight made official was the showdown between former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir and boxing legend Antonio Tarver. The fight was previously confirmed but now it’s a done deal as Mir crosses over from mixed martial arts to boxing to face off with Tarver, who will be competing for the first time since 2015.
The 52-year-old former boxing champion has faced a long list of top opponents during his day but he’s probably best known for a trilogy with Roy Jones Jr. where Tarver avenged an early loss by picking up a pair of wins over the former multi-weight class champion.
“It’s been a long-time coming. 52 is 52,” said Tarver in a statement. “Facts are facts. As pound for pound the best heavyweight of my time, I am bringing it. Mir is a great fighter but I hope he’s training hard because I’m coming at him like a freight train and one that is unstoppable.”
Also added to the card was a fight between 25–1 veteran Regis Progais as he faced off against Ivan Redkach.
The third fight Jake Paul vs Ben Askren Live announced will see British millionaire and club promoter Joe Fournier take on Colombian reggaeton star Reykon. Fournier, who has previously teamed up with former boxing champ David Haye, had actually previously challenged Paul to a boxing match but now he’ll compete on his undercard instead.
Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren: Start date, how to watch, odds, and full fight card
We’re now merely days away from YouTuber Jake Paul taking on ex-MMA fighter Ben Askren in a boxing ring. They’ll fight on April 17, starting around 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET.
Strange mismatch? World’s weirdest circus act? It’s difficult to tell at this stage.
Jake Paul is the brother of Logan Paul. Both are YouTuber online personalities with sizeable followings across almost every social media platform. They initially gained popularity on now-defunct video platform Vine and Jake Paul starred in Bizaardvark, a show on the Disney Channel.
Ben Askren will be the first to admit that striking wasn’t his best weapon when competing in mixed martial arts but that’s mostly because throwing hands with opponents was never a part of his game plan.
Instead, the two-time Hodge Trophy winner and NCAA wrestling champion always relied on his superior grappling to take fights down to the ground where he was the better fighter. For Askren, striking was always designed to set up his takedowns because he knew nobody was going to out wrestle him in the cage.
Final Word about Jake Paul vs Ben Askren
