1. Walk

Most major cities are my favorite places to walk, and London is no exception. It's a great way to get a feel for the culture, day-to-day work and personality of the city. If you want to learn about the city's past, museums, palaces or historical places are the best. But if you want to see what is now London, walking is the way to go.

When it comes to hiking as a means of exploration, there are a few wrong ways to go: The least touristy route will make the most dramatic discoveries. Belvedere cabs are best minicab service in Belvedere. I hesitate to suggest the walking route because it's not about seeing the sights or the buildings, it's about soaking up the culture that surrounds you. 2. Visit the National Gallery

Italian, Spanish, Flemish, and Dutch old masters are well represented in the north wing (with notable works by Rembrandt, Velázquez, and Caravaggio), and the east wing includes French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works, including Van Goff's sunflowers famous and Monet's water lilies.

Admission is free, but sometimes there are paid music exhibitions and concerts.

3. Search the British Library

The largest library in the world with literary treasures on display. Housed in a modern red brick building, it is one of four British copyright libraries - it houses copies of every book, map, manuscript, British and Irish patent and seal specification, as well as ancient treasures from around the world.

The extensive collection comprises 150 million objects, with 3 million added each year. Reading rooms are very popular (bring your ID and address to register). 4. Visit Art-Gazing at Tate Modern

This contemporary art powerhouse, the UK's most visited and spectacular gallery, is actually a renovated Thames power station. The boiler and switch house contains the main Tate gallery with works from the museum's world-class collection. Postwar minimalism, surrealism and abstraction are well represented and there are works by fierce assailants such as Picasso, Anthony Gormley, Salvador Dali, and Andy Warhol.
